The nephew held parental authority for one year and was adopted with the permission of DHS. We were advised to hire a lawyer and begin the procedure. The DHS reported that it could take several weeks for lawyers and judges to complete the process.
We will meet Shira McCormarie on Tuesday. She was familiar with the DHS recruitment process. She answered all our questions and had the power to rest our hearts. Then on Thursday she met her 15-year-old nephew, who had to accept adoption.  Her staff called us on Friday, submitted the necessary documents and told us when we could meet the judges!

Shira was very useful and educational! Moreover, she was very fair, and she paid no fees for adoption.
